Moore Law Group’s founding partner, Jennifer A. Moore, won an $80 million verdict in the first case in federal court involving the weedkiller, Roundup, proving that it caused her client’s non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Jennifer Moore won $80 million verdict against Monsanto over its weedkiller, Roundup, in the first federal court trial. Now, thousands of Americans who have been diagnosed with cancer after exposure to Roundup will finally receive justice for what Monsanto has done.
The weed-killer, Roundup, contains the active ingredient glyphosate, which the International Agency of Research on Cancer (IARC”) has classified as a probable carcinogen. Claims against the manufacturer of Roundup, Monsanto Company, allege that Monsanto failed to warn users of the increased risk of developing Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma from spraying Roundup. Despite knowing for decades that Roundup can cause cancer, Monsanto has hidden the truth from the American public.
What is Roundup? What is Glyphosate?
Roundup is a weed-killer manufactured by Monsanto Company. It was first released in 1974 and has been advertised by Monsanto as safe to be sprayed on crops and around people and animals.
Glyphosate is the active ingredient in Roundup and is a broad-spectrum, nonselective herbicide that is used on crops and lawns to control and eliminate weeds. Glyphosate is absorbed through the leaves, stems and roots of plants, and inhibits a specific enzyme that ultimately kills the plant.
People Most At Risk
Monsanto marketed Roundup as safe and non-toxic, intentionally choosing not to warn the public of the increased risk of developing cancer, specifically, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
People with long-term, consistent exposure to the pesticide Roundup are most at risk, and often include those employed:
- On farms;
- In nurseries or other garden centers; and
- As landscapers.

Press Statement
Plaintiff Wins Phase Two of the First Federal Trial Against Monsanto Regarding Roundup Causing his Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
In response to today’s verdict, Aimee Wagstaff of Andrus Wagstaff, PC and Jennifer Moore of Moore Law Group, PLLC, co-trial counsel for the Plaintiff, issue the following statement:
Mr. Hardeman is pleased that the jury unanimously held that Monsanto is responsible for causing his non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. As demonstrated throughout trial, since Roundup’s inception over 40 years ago, Monsanto refuses to act responsibly. It is clear from Monsanto’s actions that it does not care whether Roundup causes cancer, focusing instead on manipulating public opinion and undermining anyone who raises genuine and legitimate concerns about Roundup. It speaks volumes that not one Monsanto employee, past or present, came live to trial to defend Roundup’s safety or Monsanto’s actions. Today, the jury resoundingly held Monsanto accountable for its 40 years of corporate malfeasance and sent a message to Monsanto that it needs to change the way it does business.
